Platelet Rich Plasma (Angel PRP)

ANGEL®PLATELET RICH PLASMA (PRP)

Angel™ Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) Salt Lake City

Also known as “The Vampire Facial” and popularised by Hollywood stars in recent years; PRP is a relatively new medical approach appealing to clients seeking a natural method to rejuvenate their skin and stimulate healing.

Introducing Angel PRP

Angel™ PRP system is the latest generation of PRP Therapy available today. It offers far superior isolation and higher concentration of Platelets, resulting in PRP aspirate which is capable of delivering quicker and visibly noticeable results compared to the older PRP harvesting machines available.

PRP Treatments works well when combined with other procedures

What is Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) Therapy?

PRP  is basically tissue regeneration with your own blood cells. Aging and UV damage causes the skin’s texture and appearance to deteriorate gradually over time. This is characterised by sagging and thinning of the skin, crapy-ness, age spots,  fine lines and wrinkles. The delicate skin around the eyes, neck and back of hands is particularly prone to this process. PRP helps rejuvenate the skin where other treatments fail or deliver suboptimal results.

Why Platelet Rich Plasma?

Platelets are blood cells with several crucial functions. They contain important growth factors that, when secreted, are responsible for:

  • Wound healing
  • Recruiting other cells to the site of injury
  • Tissue regeneration
  • Increasing collagen production
  • Initiating vascular re-growth
  • Inducing cell differentiation
  • Assisting in bone mineralisation
  • Extra-cellular matrix formation

What does the procedure involve?

In spite  of its name; PRP is a relatively gentle and straight forward procedure when performed by an experienced doctor. The area to be treated is cleansed and a topical numbing cream is applied for 40 minutes.A small quantity of blood is obtained from the patient’s vein. This blood is then processed and the plasma component (the part rich in platelets and possibly stem cells) is separated. These platelets are then activated and injected back into the skin (or any other host tissue) using sterile equipment.

Preparation is simple and quick, and completed in the clinic during the appointment time.
The procedure requires approximately 45 minutes to 1 hour per two to four test tubes of plasma.

Which facial and body areas can be treated with Platelet rich plasma therapy?
  • Full Face
  • Around the eyes
  • Cheeks and mid face
  • Thin and crapey skin on the neck
  • Back of hands and arms
  • Décolletage
  • Arthritic joints
  • Injured tendons and ligaments (sports injuries)
  • Scalp (hair regrowth)

 How is PRP procedure performed?

PRP is performed only by doctors. Instead of using simple PRP,  add skin rejuvenating serums and activating factors to the PRP solution before injecting it back into the skin. This greatly increases the clinical efficacy of the procedure and delivers greater clinical results. We also don’t simply just inject PRP using needles as most other  clinics do. Fractional Lasers create tiny pores in the skin and are used by our doctors to deliver PRP to deeper skin layers without using needles. We often also use advance derma pen device to infiltrate PRP solution in to the skin without any pain or discomfort.

What is the downtime after Platelet rich plasma therapy? Are there any side effects?

Apart from minimal swelling, bruising and redness for 12–24 hours, there are no documented serious side effects of this treatment. Most patients can go to work the next day with the clever use of mineral makeup such as Oxygenetics®.

Can anyone have a Platelet rich plasma therapy treatment?

Not everyone is suitable. Persons with skin disease (SLE, porphyria, allergies), cancer, chemotherapy, severe metabolic and systemic disorders, liver disease, haemodynamic instability and abnormal platelet function (i.e. blood disorders) are not recommended to have this treatment. Anti-coagulation therapy and underlying sepsis excludes the use of PRP as well. Chain smokers and alcoholics are also not suitable.

What results should I expect from Platelet rich plasma therapy?

PRP delivers very natural and subtle results for patients looking for gradual improvement. Results are visible at three weeks and improve gradually over ensuing months with improvement in texture and tone of the skin.

Other procedures like fractional skin resurfacing and medical skin needling, when combined with PRP treatment, can significantly enhance the results.

How much does Platelet rich plasma therapy cost?

This is assessed on consultation with the treating doctor. A treatment is mapped out for each client and the cost can be assessed at this time. This is based on a clients’ unique requirements, their budget and the result that is desired. Platelet rich plasma can be combined with other treatments as a package and the overall cost will be discussed at consultation.
